Catherine Telford-Keogh got MFA from Yale, MA in Women, gender and sexuality studies
in Yale. She interested in the connection between body and art through video and
sculpture. Catherine Telford-Keogh was a crazy and bold artist in my opinion when I looked at her artworks. When she showed “Look inside, and You Will Find Me: A Five Minute Body Scan,” it shocked me. Because I saw two people’s eyes touched together. I cannot imagine what’s the feeling of it. There is a professional meditation voice actor as background to reading a text in this video. This reading will guide viewers to feel the experience of scanning their own body mentally. Catherine is very brave, and she likes to challenge new things.
Another artwork that Catherine did is “Coffee Table.” She said this is one of her favorite
artwork. This coffee table is a source to inspire her creation. Catherine used some food that has rotten, and then use a special floating glue to save it. The make it a beautiful table. Catherine uses express material language. Inside of this coffee table, it has peanuts, pickles, etc. She said each object represent a language of organization and aspiration. Before these things are sealed in the table, the data stop at the previous moment.
In my opinion, Catherine Telford-Keogh is an artist with a variety of idea to create artworks. She deep researched about women, gender and sexuality in Yale, thus, her artworks have relation with people’s body. Catherine is brave to make the video, “Look inside and You will Find Me: A Five Minute Body Scan.” However, I do not like this video, because when I watched it, I feel very uncomfortable. I understand she wants to use this way to express her ideas. But I think she should think about whether audiences can accept her artworks.

In contemporary art, artists would like to challenge themselves and art form. So some of them will use extreme ways to express their artwork. Just like Catherine’s video “Look inside, and You Will Find Me: A Five Minute Body Scan,” when I watched it I can’t accept that.
